Samantha Ponder Bio
Samantha Ponder, born December 11 1985, is an American sportscaster and host of Sunday NFL Countdown (ESPN). Ponder was previously a host and reporter on ESPN college football, as also a sideline reporter. Ponder substituted Erin Andrews on College GameDay Saturdays at 10 AM ET on ESPN and also as co-host of the Saturday edition at 9 AM ET on ESPNU. Ponder was the regular reporter on ESPN's Thursday Night College Football, Jesse Palmer and Rece Davis from August 2012 through 2014. Ponder also appeared on ESPN-owned regional channel oriented towards Texas, the Longhorn Network. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Ponder was a student at Central High School in Phoenix. Ponder initially went to The King's College in New York City after high school. She was in New York City when she sought a hostess role at ESPN Zone. There she came across Ben Keeperman who is a college football manager, researcher and mentor. This resulted in an internship at the network, which was followed by an assistant position as a researcher at ABC-TV's studio for college football show. She transferred to Liberty University after Liberty's Sr. Sports producer Bruce Carey offered her a job as sideline reporter for the Liberty Flames sports television network. She graduated in 2009 and began working as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports for Pac-10 and Big 12 college football and basketball games. On July 7, 2011, ESPN's Longhorn Network announced that it was hiring Ponder as a sideline reporter. Ponder, along with Kevin Dunn and Lowell Galindo were the newly formed network's first three talent hires. After accepting her position with the Longhorn Network, Ponder relocated to Austin, Texas.
