Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer with Irish descent. The green-eyed beauty with flaming red hair was famous for her fiery and passionate performances in a variety of American films. Her gorgeous appearance and natural beauty was well-loved. The actress was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her character onscreen was a reflection of her strong, brave spirit that struggled for her survival and fame in a male-dominated world. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect to gain the roles she deserved through merit. She was a vocal supporter of women's roles in both television and film and gained a lot of followers as a result. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was published in 2004. The book was an honest and honest account of her life, including the struggles she endured in her climb to success. She was an adventurous lady who did not hesitate to doing her own stunts. She was an actress in more than 60 films and was the recipient of a fair amount of international fame. She remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former pilot brigadier and chief who were the pioneers of transatlantic aviation. O'Hara eventually retired after few years of marriage. However, her happiness was not long-lasting since Blair was killed in a fatal plane crash in 1978. In the same year she was also diagnosed as suffering from uterine cancer and required undergo surgery immediately. She eventually recovered. The health of her declined in the course of time and she was diagnosed with six heart attacks short-term memory loss, as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, at 95 years aged, passed away peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on 24 October , 2015.
