ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. She and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played multiple sports throughout her youth, but did not favor soccer until the age of 14. Then she joined the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and finishing third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to develop her soccer abilities at Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has selected her as an All-American Athlete. She was also a participant of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan advanced her soccer skills at UC Berkeley, where she led the California Golden Bears team in scoring since the beginning of her season. Morgan was instrumental in getting the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice to the second round. Morgan was one of four finalists for Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Morgan was a graduate in 2010 and had the third highest amount of goals and points in Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate and national levels throughout her time at school. Morgan suffered an injury to her ACL in her first season with Berkeley. This prevented her from taking part in U.S. women's soccer under 20 until April 2008. She scored her first international goal in Mexico during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a participant in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, earning her team a gold medal. One of them was a win goal against Italy which earned the U.S. team a final spot at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team , and he was instrumental in leading it to victory against France. Even though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first player in history to score both a goal and an assist during a final World Cup game.
