Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara, Spanish: was born July 10, 1972. She is an actress, presenter, producer, model and TV presenter from Colombia. Vergara was the highest-paid female actress on American television from 2013 between 2013 and 2020. Vergara rose in prominence in her role as host of two shows on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first significant acting role in English. Then, she was in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Come to Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. In 2009, she was able to begin playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett for the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara also played roles in the films The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014), and Hot Pursuit (2015). Her voice-over roles include Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also part of The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also the highest-paid Hollywood actress in 2020. Vergara was born into a Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla.  Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara was a housewife, as was her father. Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, was a cattle rancher in the meat industry. The nickname she received was "Toti" by her five siblings, as well as a number of cousins. Vergara was an undergraduate at the National University of Colombia in dentistry. Then she quit after two years to pursue modeling and show business.
