Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger, was born in
Katy, Texas on April 25 of 1969. Her mother Kjellfrid (Andreassen) is a former
nurse and midwife from Norway, Kven (Finnish), as well as being of Swedish as
well as Norwegian descent. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss-born
engineer. They got married in 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older brother.
He is a marketing executive and was born on February 15, 1967. Renee got
interested in acting during high school as she worked in the drama group. She
also attended an acting course at the University of Texas (Austin) which was
the first time she looked to pursue a career in acting. She was determined to
act following her graduation, however Hollywood is not easy to enter. Renee
decided not to leave Texas and went to audition at Houston for roles. Matthew
McConaughey (another Hollywood rising star) was her close friend when she was
on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). Renee saw
him working on a project and auditioned. The role was given to her in Love and
an offer of a 45 (1994). This earned her enough praise that she moved to Los
Angeles. She was then offered another part in The Whole Wide World (1996) that
gave her the first major break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film
Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was considering actresses such
as Bridget Fonda and Marisa Tomei when He saw Zellweger's performance in The
Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger, and felt certain she was the
perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee continued her popularity with a few independent
films. After receiving further critical praise and confidence, she decided to
reenter the world of big-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep co-starred in One
True Thing (1998). She also took a role in Me, Myself & Irene (2000),
opposite Jim Carrey, and soon after she began dating Carrey. Bridget Jones's
Diary (2001) as the title role.
